As an overview of these blogs, Preparation “H” asks the question: How is God calling us to prepare our Home, Heart, Health, Heirs, and Huddles for His Kingdom purposes. I think God has much to say, whether you read it here, or simply as you contemplate this question. There is so much spinning in my heart and head to help us conquer each aspect with hope, scripture, and God-size resilience as we respond to His calling of preparedness. This is part three – Huddles & Heirs. If you are just joining us and have missed part one (Home) or part two (Heart), you can find it clicking the title of each.
It has been an interesting couple of weeks for me. I’ve been investing my time in the lives of others through a vast array of circles and by various means of devotion. Its diversity has spread across ages, close family, extended family, friends, and family of friends, old acquaintances, students, and new circles of people I’m just getting to know. The places have been varied as well. God has even brought people to my porch that I’d never expect! Quite interesting as I reflect! Though I often don’t leave enough margins in my life, in each circumstance, God has carved out the time for these mini investments. Below is just a few pictures in a quick slideshow. Today’s musing is simple and straightforward. It’s through our huddles and heirs that we live our life and begin to design our own legacy. I’m in no way advocating a holy huddle, for in that, I believe we loose sight of our mission. By huddle, I mean the people with whom we do life! In what way are we preparing our “Huddles and Heirs” for kingdom purposes? Is your conversation filled with spiritual truths that encourage and admonish, preparing those whom we love for eternity and at peace with others while on this earth? How are you building relationships? Are they tenderly deliberate or are you forcing your way in? Why are you building them? Is it to meet some inner need or is there a spiritual pull toward them? Be sensitive.... Be prayerful.... Be spirit led! I think of Jesus and His disciples. He surrounded Himself with men from all walks of life ~ various ages, diverse occupations, and personalities crossing every spectrum. His huddle and inner circle! Take a moment to imagine what it was like:
Perhaps you are like my little birdie. Hiding himself in the corner, shutting out the world and in his safe place! Seasonally coming around just as if to say, “I’m still here!” You are not involved or doing life with hardly anyone. Iron sharpens iron! Get up and get out there! Get involved! You have so much to share others! God has gifted and designed you to impact others! We are created in His image and He definitely wasn’t a loner. Proverbs 11:25-26 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. Remember…when a sponge becomes totally saturated, unless it is squeezed and releases what it is holding, it will become sour over time! Let me challenge you to allow God to squeeze you from your comfort zone so that you can be a blessing to others! Be prepared to speak into the lives of your huddle and heirs for the Kingdom of God! He has and continues to equip you with all that you need. Trust His promises! 2 Corinthians 9:8-11 Besides, God is able to make every blessing of yours overflow for you, so that in every situation you will always have all you need for any good work.
